The most commonly asked questions about our house signs, answered.

How much is delivery?

For UK door number orders, we use Royal Mail Tracked 48 shipping as standard and free of charge. This is available on all of our online house number signs. For international orders, shipping costs are calculated at checkout before you finalise your order. You can read more about our postage costs and production times on our blog.

Will I receive fixings to hang my house number sign?

All our house number signs come with fixings and fittings. You can choose the fixing style when designing your sign.

Should I choose 'Laser Printed' or 'Engraved & Painted' lettering?

Our Laser Printed text finish uses a laser engraver to take away the top surface of your chosen granite or slate door number sign to imprint your text on the face of the stone. The printed text is a soft grey and smooth to the touch, this gives a natural appearance to the sign.

Alternatively, Engraved & Painted text is made using a sandblaster which engraves the lettering 3-5 mm deep into the face of the sign.

How do I fit my sign to my house?

To fit your house number sign to a wall, all you will need is a level, a pencil, a drill and the fixings we have provided in your signs package. All our house numbers come with an easy-to-follow installation guide, so you will have you sign up in minutes. Once your house sign is installed, don’t forget to recycle your packaging! All the packaging we use is fully recyclable.

What sign materials can I choose?

We have two different types of slate:

Polished Slate which is, as the name suggests, polished down to create a glossy, glass like appearance with bevelled edges. This slate is dark grey.

Natural Slate which is light grey, riven/textured slate which has uneven edges (not bevelled). This slate offers a more rustic appearance compared to Polished slate.

We also make black Granite House Signs. This is a popular option for homes with white brick or grey stone walls, compared to the conventional red brick wall.

Why Choose A Door Number Sign?

Door numbers have become a popular choice among homeowners seeking to add a subtle but warm welcome to their homes. Not only do signs serve the practical purpose of displaying your property number, but they can contribute significantly to the aesthetic appeal of your property.

Some important considerations when buying a house number sign:

1. Enhancing Curb Appeal - House numbers play a role in enhancing the curb appeal of your residence. A well-made slate house number can make your home more inviting and visually appealing.

2. Easy Readability - Choosing a number sign which is a suitable size and shape to fit your property while being easily visible from the roadside. White is a popular paint infill colour for easy readability.

3. Traditional vs Contemporary House Numbers - Our slate door numbers can be customised to match your style. Customers can choose their number, style, font, colour and size. However, there are two key differences in the slate, polished, which is more suited for contemporary number signs, while natural is better suited to traditional homes.

If you're looking to add both a number and house name, take a look at our house signs page for more options to choose from.
